We are both retired teachers and have found ourselves with time to paint.
Humphry started by painting in watercolours but found the change to painting on canvas with acrylics suited his style of work much better. He spent all his childhood holidays in Mevagissey, Cornwall and “messing about in boats” and this has been a big influence on his painting. Holidays in Greece and the colourful picturesque boats there, have given him some great subject matter.
He likes bright colours and particularly enjoys painting the fascinating reflections of boats in water.
Having taught both Art and Design Technology, Elizabeth found time in her retirement to pursue her own work. She loves to experiment with different styles and media and paints very varied subjects. She is particularly interested the colours and shapes in nature and the effects of light. Holidays abroad, some in hot countries and some in cooler ones, have given her plenty of subject matter.
